Through its allegiances with the influential tribal leaders, dedicated youth
and respected religious figures in the communities on the ground, as well as "Friends of Afghanistan" around
the world. ASR offers an agile, results-driven mechanism to help address the three afore-mentioned needs of the country:
Ø
Effective civil society
structures. By
serving as a platform to facilitate dialogue and cooperation, ASR will engage Afghans to foster involvement in citizens’
groups and non-governmental organizations to promote democracy and civic involvement. ASR works with these structures to help
identify individuals who have commitment, integrity and basic skills improve their capacity and eventually encourage their
involvement in the broad-based and responsive government. The role of these organized groups and institutions will be
to monitor the government and promote reform, to support basic rights, freedom and restrain corruption by promoting accountability
and transparency in the government. Civil society sector will also serve to promote national reconciliation by fostering new
ties that appeal to common human needs and cut across the old tribal and ethnic allegiances.
Ø Broad-based democracy in Afghanistan. ASR advocates for a truly democratic, broad-based government in Afghanistan that serves
the needs of its people. It aims to act as a platform to facilitate the dialogue between all segments of the Afghanistan society
to foster people’s involvement in governing the country, fill the power gap by the respected structures trusted by its
people and free of corruption, and give the people, especially the youth, the tools and opportunities to become future leaders.
Ø
Expanded involvement of international community. ASR works with the international community to encourage
aid and involvement in the reconstruction of Afghanistan in a transparent and corruption-free manner to meet the urgent needs
of the people. ASR can help facilitate aid operations on the ground by fostering involvement of trusted individuals and citizens’
groups to ward off corruption and the discontent of the unaccountability of officials. ASR also works with national
and international public and private sector organizations to promote investment and long-term involvement in the reconstruction
activities in Afghanistan. Finally, ASR facilitates dialogue and collaboration between Afghanistan and its neighboring countries
to strengthen the spirit of partnership and sustainable development in the region and make it a less fertile ground for international
terrorism and drug lords.
